Paralympian Panel: Derek Loccident, Je'von Hutchison, & Ryan Medrano with Bob Babbitt
What a treat to chat with three amazing athletes at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. Je'von Hutchison is a guide for visually impaired runners at 100 and 400 meters and he has guided David Brown and Antoine Craig among others. Derek Loccident was playing college football when, after a game, he was hit by a train and lost his leg below the knee. In 2024 he competed in the Paralympics in track and field and took home two silver medals from Paris. Ryan Medrano was born three months early with fluid on his brain and ended up with Cerebral Palsy. In 2022 he was competing on the TV show Survivor when another competitor told him that he could actually participate in the Paralympics with the challenge he was facing. In 2024 he returned from the Paralympics in Paris with two silver medals!
