But let’s get right into it... My flight was with volaris at 5:44am. I arrived at the airport at 2am. As you can tell both CBX and the TJ airport were empty! I zoomed right through everything, especially because I didn’t have to document any luggage. I made it to my gate at about 3/3:30am, more than enough time to spare. The more I use CBX the more I understand how important it is to get there as EARLY as possible. The time you are recommended to arrive at the airport is 2 hours before the flight, however, the time that you arrive in general is also very important because that will depend on how busy the CBX & the TJ airport are. This flight was at 5:44am, so arriving at 2am/3am there are typically less people. Later morning flights mean more people arrive at the airport, and longer lines form. Please don’t think that you can just arrive at the airport an 1 hour before your flight, it takes about 40-1hr from start to finish- when you make it to your waiting gate. This doesn’t mean you’ll make it JUST in time to board the plane- WRONG! The flight is at 5:44am, meaning the plane takes off at 5:44am, meaning people boarded about half an hour before, doors were closed, the airplane people checked all that extra airplane details, removed the boarding tunnel, and the plane is already making its way to the runway to take OFF at 5:44am. VOLARIS has a track record of always running behind, believe me a couple years ago we were stuck waiting 10 hours for our flight !!! 😤 HOWEVER, I have been amazed because they have been departing on the dot or only a few minutes behind. Our family friend made it right when the boarding gate had been closed and missed this flight because they stayed in Ensenada & thought they could make it in an hour before because they weren’t going to cross CBX or have luggage to document. This isn’t a family road trip you’re running late for, and you can show up a minute before just in time to hop in on the ride and through your luggage in the back and that’s it. This is a whole ass airplane that once that door closes, it shut right, diagnostics are ran, & they may not want to just open the door. I’m not saying they haven’t done that in the past, but just Don’t chance it guys, Give yourself a big cushion because sooo many things can happen and you can get held up in different points of the process.
