I considered adding Haunted Castle to the list because the custom CPU in the arcade version is based on the 6809, a chip with 16-bit features. In the end I decided to hold off and review the new version of that game down the line. 2. The sum of its parts really did make a difference here. Though Bloodlines technically only won the challenge category here, I consider it second only to Rondo of Blood. 3. I'd like to stress I went into this as objectively as was possible. I was never going to get past certain biases, but I tried to really look at each game based on its own merits.
