Supreme Court Rejects Trump Appeal in E. Jean Carroll Sexual Abuse Case | $5M Verdict Stands
The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear President Donald Trump's appeal in his sexual abuse and defamation case — letting stand a jury's 2023 verdict awarding E. Jean Carroll $5 million. Carroll alleged Trump sexually assaulted her in a New York department store in the 1990s. She later filed a civil suit, and a judge found Trump had sexually abused and defamed her. Trump's legal team argued the trial judge allowed improper testimony — but the Supreme Court rejected their appeal Monday without explanation. Trump is also appealing a separate $83 million defamation verdict Carroll won in 2024. That case is still working through the lower courts.
