Andi Weishaupt - Farrier, Orthopedic Farrier, Instructor Andi Weishaupt, born in the idyllic Appenzell region, is a passionate farrier and hoof care expert with a deep connection to horses. As the son of the last true teamster in the region, he spent his childhood among horses and developed a genuine love for these majestic animals. From an early age, his father instilled in him not only a respectful approach to horses but also an understanding of their important role as working animals, rather than as leisure animals. However, Andi's interest in horses went beyond this traditional understanding of their utility, and he felt a special fascination for their hooves from an early age. Although his father gave him numerous valuable lessons about horses, the art of farriery remained largely unexplored. Determined to deepen his knowledge and master the art of farriery, Andi Weishaupt began his formal training as a farrier on August 23, 1993. In the following years, he developed into a highly skilled craftsman specializing in iron shoeing. His work was characterized not only by technical precision but also by an empathetic connection with the horses he treated. Despite his success as a farrier, however, Andi gradually felt a growing dissatisfaction with the limited perspective of iron shoeing. His deep curiosity and desire to understand the complexities of hooves more comprehensively drove him to expand his knowledge. He longed for a more holistic approach to hoof care. As a result, Andi Weishaupt embarked on his mission to understand hooves holistically and explore solutions beyond traditional shoeing. For many years, he has tirelessly dedicated himself to this subject and has become a recognized expert in hoof care. His pursuit of knowledge led him to develop the innovative "huuf-balance" concept.
