Nitro Dolphin Maiden Flight: Engine Troubles, Dead Stick Landing, and the 'Joys of Nitro'!

We're back at the club for the highly anticipated maiden flight of Levon's Power Box Nitro Dolphin! Levon hasn't flown a nitro plane in a very long time, and anyone who's been around these planes knows the "joy of nitro"—which often means more tuning than flying! This maiden flight was a true test, filled with all the challenges and triumphs of the hobby: Tuning the Throws: We start with adjusting the throws on the ailerons to get the Dolphin ready for the air [00:32]. The Smell of Nitro: Dealing with getting the engine running and the classic, unmistakable smell that only nitro can deliver [01:26]. Maiden Attempt: Levon takes off for the first time, but a mid-air engine quit leads to a tense dead-stick landing and a stall [04:06]. Expert Help: RC guru Barry steps in for a demonstration flight to help dial in the plane, adjusting the settings like the expo [09:05] and showing how to handle a potential stall [07:40]. Smooth Landing: With the plane better tuned and some coaching from Barry, Levon gets back on the sticks for a second attempt and sticks a perfect, smooth landing! [16:08] It was a bumpy ride, but the Nitro Dolphin is officially in the air! What's your favorite part about flying nitro? Let us know in the comments below! 👇
