Milmed Rock Track - Wyperfeld National Park, VIC

This video profiles Milmed Rock Track that runs between Lake Albacutya and the Murrayville-Nhill Road within Wyperfeld National Park. This is one of the epic sand 4wd tracks located within the Big Desert area of Victoria and should be on all 4wder’s bucket list. The track is 78km long and takes you through a diversity of landscapes including sand dunes, swamps, mallee and heathlands. The sand conditions in sections of the track can be extremely soft at times, particularly around summer, and driving at these times can be a real slog. There’s a number of boggy track areas towards the southern end of the track which can be extremely messy following wet periods. For me, Milmed Rock is a great option for Winter 4wding, as the sand is firmer and there’s lots of camping options along the track. Places to check out along the track include Hermie Stausses Garden (not shown in the video), the large sand dune lookout and Milmed Rock (an interesting geological feature). I rate this track as easy to medium depending upon the time of year and sand conditions. The full track takes approximately 4-5 hrs to complete (including a few breaks). NOTE: the alternative access is BULLYGALL ROAD not Kurnbrunin Rd - my mistake! Catch you out there! Track filmed in July 2025.
