PULP MORPHOLOGY OF MAXILLARY PREMOLARS

his educational video gives an overview of pulp morphology of Maxillary premolars. Maxillary first premolar has two roots and two canals(buccal and palatal). A Common variation in Maxillary first premolar is a single fused root, however almost always with two pulp canals (buccal and palatal). The buccal pulp horn is more prominent than the palatal pulp horn.The floor of the pulp chamber is located in coronal third of root below cervical line and has two canal orifices, one buccal and one palatal. The root canal is kidney-shaped at cervical level. The maxillary second premolar closely resembles maxillary first premolar in anatomy. It has one root and one root canal. Sometimes it shows two root canal opening and merging into single canal at apical foramina. It has two pulp horns similar to maxillary first premolar.The pulp chamber extends apically well below the cervical margin.The root canal is slightly oval at mid-root level and becomes round at apical third.
