08-Ephesians: "Cut to Fit: How God Is Building His Church Today" | Ephesians 2:19-22

In Ephesians 2:19-22, we step onto a building site. Across this chapter God has cleared the ground, the dividing wall is down, and He has gathered a people who were once dead, once far off, once without hope. But a cleared lot and a gathered crowd are not yet the point. They are the beginning of something He is building. Paul says you are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are not on the porch. You are not knocking at the door. In Christ you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, a family that has stood through the millennia. This house rests on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the chief cornerstone. He sets the line, the level, and the square, and every stone is laid true only in reference to Him. And every stone is cut to fit. We come to Christ raw and unshaped, and the chisel that shapes us is not always gentle. You cannot fill my place. I cannot fill yours. When believers refuse to be fitted into the body, the church grows weak. So the question of this passage is simple and searching: are you investing in the household of God, or only attending it? If you are truly His, you are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. That is an honor.
