It’s time for another episode of Vet Benieuwd! Supermarkets are once again stocked with new products, and naturally, we couldn't resist taking home a hefty shopping bag. From striking popcorn flavors and unique chips to healthier snacks, new ice creams, drinks, and even mochi. But which products are truly worth trying, and which are better left on the shelf? We start with three new popcorn flavors. Jimmy's is launching a Sweet Chili variant, and Proper has also released two new flavors: Tangy Chili and Churros. The comparison between Jimmy's and Proper, in particular, immediately produces a surprising winner. Next, we dive into the world of savory snacks. We test, among others, Slow Cooked Chips Roasted Chicken & Caramelized Onion, new legume snacks from Albert Heijn with edamame beans, black beans, and broad beans, as well as various spiced cashews. The question, of course, is: are these healthier alternatives just as tasty as a bag of chips? Naturally, dessert cannot be left out. We taste the new Lotus Biscoff ice cream, the surprisingly smooth Cinnamon Caramel ice cream from Jumbo, chocolate strawberries, two new mochi flavors, and finish with a product that really pleasantly surprised us: the Johnny Cashew Salted Caramel nuts. We also try the newest Crystal Clear flavors, two new matcha drinks, and a speculaas Protein Cookie Bar. As always, we give each product a score in donuts 🍩, so you know exactly what is worth trying for yourself.
