A BIT OF THE HOTEL'S HISTORY The Hotel Entremares, inaugurated on July 8, 1966, marked a milestone in the history of La Manga del Mar Menor. This top-tier hotel complex was built at the entrance to La Manga, kilometer 1, just a few meters from the first buildings already constructed. At that time, the Entremares occupied an area of ​​17,000 square meters and was strategically located on the seafront. Its construction represented a significant economic investment by the Franco regime, and the press of the time highlighted its international importance. The hotel had 112 rooms, a pier, and a sports field. Its total cost amounted to 75 million pesetas. During the inauguration, the Undersecretary of Tourism, Antonio García Rodríguez-Acosta, stated that the Spanish State had raised approximately one billion dollars in 1965 to balance the payments deficit. This transformed Tomás Maestre Aznar's project (the developer of La Manga) into a true "matter of state" for the regime. The Entremares Hotel (featured in this article) and other historic hotels in La Manga contributed to the economic and architectural development of the area, leaving a lasting mark on its surroundings.
