Origen histórico del enclave de Treviño: una aproximación. Jon Andoni Fernández de Larrea

This video offers an introduction to the Treviño Enclave and its complex, interesting, and little-known history. The Treviño Enclave is located in northern Spain, belonging to the province of Burgos (Castilla y León), although completely surrounded by the territory of Álava (Basque Country). It belongs to the Ebro region and is part of the judicial district of Miranda de Ebro, a city located a few kilometers away. It comprises two municipalities: Condado de Treviño, with 260.71 km² and a population of 1,398 inhabitants (INE 2014); and La Puebla de Arganzón, with 18.87 km² and 531 inhabitants. In total, the enclave covers 279.58 km² and has a population of 1,929 inhabitants. It possesses a rich and varied monumental heritage, including civil and religious architecture. Its large size and varied topography provide it with ample resources. Stone was extracted from the Ajarte quarries for the construction of emblematic buildings in Álava, such as the Old Cathedral of Vitoria. Professor Jon Andoni Fernández de Larrea Rojas, a History professor at the University of the Basque Country and an expert on this topic, explains this further.
