DJay 95 Plays: Dirt Dash (Arcade)

Hey players, DJay here with a new racing game longplay on another arcade exclusive, Dirt Dash. Description of the game: Dirt Dash is a rally racing simulator game by Namco released exclusively for the arcade platform in December 1995 in Japan and internationally in early 1996 on the Namco Super System 22 hardware. It takes some inspiration from Sega Rally, which was released a year earlier. There are some references to other Namco games present in the form of cameos, some spotted only in the City section, including Mappy, Cyber Cycles and Final Lap. It is the second rally racing game by Namco, the first being Dirt Fox in 1989. The Red Lightning rally car shares the same name with the Red Lightning Formula car from the Ace Driver series. The Special Flag from Rally-X appears on the HUD whenever the player takes a hidden shortcut. An arcade cabinet of this game appears in Big Time Rush, however, with its marquee removed possibly to avoid lawsuits from Namco. The player must complete a rally course comprised of 5 stages on different environments and having their own adaptive difficulty. Players can choose to clear all 5 stages in 1 race or complete the whole course sector by sector depending on the settings. There are 3 cars to choose from, each with their own driving capabilities to suit the player's choice. In each section, the player must make it to the next checkpoint as fast as possible before the timer expires and overtake 6 opponents. Although a map is displayed on the screen, directions are displayed on the screen to warn players where they must turn and to slow down if required. If the timer hits zero, the player will be disqualified from the race and must try again. Dash your way through all 5 sectors and emerge as the victor in this arcade exclusive rally racing simulator.
