Он жыл бойы құлдықта болып, қорлық көрдік деген ерлі-зайыптылар әділдік іздеп, Астанаға келді

A disabled couple who have been abused for ten years have come to Astana in search of justice. They say that the punishment for those who had been begging them and taking their earnings has been reduced. Those who were initially recognized as an organized criminal group were later sentenced to a much shorter term in the appeals court. Now the victims are asking the Prosecutor General's Office to intervene so that the original sentence remains in force. According to the investigation, strangers have been keeping a man with no limbs and his wife under surveillance since 2015. They took him and his wife to bus stops and crowded places to beg. All the money they collected went to the organizer. The abuse did not end there. According to the couple, their daughter was taken away when she was three months old and given to someone else to raise. And they only showed the child to her parents once a week. The victims say that they even threatened to deprive them of their parental rights if they did not comply. NIKOLAY LUCHNIKOV, victim: They kept us in slavery for ten years. They forced us to beg every day. If we brought even a little money, they would beat us. They wouldn’t let us see our daughter. They threatened, “If you don’t comply, you won’t see your child at all.” We gave them all the money we earned. The first court sentenced the main suspect to 17 years in prison, and the other three to 12 years. But then the case was reviewed at the appeals court, and the article on organized criminal activity was dropped. As a result, the sentences were significantly reduced. Thus, the main suspect was sentenced to 9 years, and the others to 6 years. The victims, who disagreed with this decision, went to the Prosecutor General’s Office and asked for the case to be reconsidered. IRINA MINEEVA, victim: I am afraid for myself, for my husband, and for my daughter. They beat us for years and forced us to collect money. They also threatened us in court. Therefore, I hope that a fair decision will be made and the guilty will receive the appropriate punishment. Representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office received the couple and gave legal explanations. They also said that they could file an appeal in cassation and accepted their written application. BAGILA DOSMAILOVA, attorney: What if they reconsidered the case? Translation We will file a direct appeal to the cassation court. Because there was concern that the prosecutors who helped reduce the sentence would re-enter the case during the appeal. But the Prosecutor General's Office explained to us that an independent prosecutor would be reviewing the case. This somewhat disappointed us. We also filed a special complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the threats made to the victims during the trial. The helpless people who were released after ten years of humiliation now ask for only one thing. The most important thing for them is not revenge, but justice. #Informbureau #31arena #MainNews #News #31arena
