Sermon: Lessons from the Life of Hannah (1 Samuel 1)

By her own admission, Hannah was oppressed in spirit before God intervened in her life. She didn’t think she would ever live up to her name, Hebrew for “favor.” Her husband loved her, but she had to share him with another woman and none of the children in the house belonged to her. The story of Samuel’s mother teaches us that God empowers the powerless. She lived thousands of years ago but the relevance of her story surpasses today’s headlines.
