Agricultural Biotechnology: Is it Called GMO or Something Else?
This video reviews different terms used to describe GMOs. GMO has become a common term used to describe foods that have been created through genetic engineering. Congress passed the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard, and you will start seeing the “bioengineered” label on some of the foods we eat in the United States. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched Feed Your Mind, the Agricultural Biotechnology Education and Outreach Initiative, to help consumers better understand genetically engineered foods, commonly called GMOs or genetically modified organisms.
