What was your first job? 8 well-known Australians and 11 refugee women share the stories behind their very first start — and why that first opportunity matters more than you think. Everyone remembers their first job. Help make hers possible. In Australia, less than 33% of refugee women have jobs. Many face barriers such as a lack of local work experience or limited access to skills training. The Social Outfit creates opportunities that recognise refugee and migrant women’s skills, build financial independence and open doors to careers across fashion and retail. Our retail and sewing training programs support refugee and migrant women with a first start. These paid employment programs help refugee women build careers, earn income and participate fully in Australian life. Our programs rely on donations.
