"The Ballad of John and Yoko" – The Beatles SOTU 751 LE TOUR

This was the last real single the Beatles released, although it was only recorded by John and Paul. It is all about the much hyped wedding/ honeymoon advantures in Paris, Amsterdam and Vienna where John and Yoko engaged in various peace activities, including bagism, "... eating choclate cake in a bag.." the cake wasn't in the bag they were. The idea was to combat racisim by putting yourself in a bag where nobody would know what your gender, race etc was. This was before the internet. one of a few "bed ins" where John and Yoko stayed in bed and did various pranks and media stunts. "... the men in the press say what you doing in bed? I said, "'we're only trying to get us some peace..." sending an acorn to world acorns . So the mysterious ";;;fifty acorns tied in a sack.." is actually literal. They bought the acorns and took them back with them to London. Personally I think this and the flip side, "Old Brown Shore" are two of the most undertrated songs of the Beatles and why I believe that in spite of all the hype, The Beatles were actually underrated. My performance may not be making my case very well; Seasons of the Uke is a group of folks that have been celebrating "seasons" for the past ten years and are still going strong. A season lasts 8 days with Sunday being an overlapping day between the new season and the previous season. Each week a volunteer from the group chooses a topic. It can be a theme, certain words in the lyrics and/ or title, or pretty much anything you can think of – It is totally up to the host.
