Finch Aviary extension.

We have now completed section 2 of the finch aviary. 6mx 1.5m x 2m high. Our bottom area is filled with many different grasses, barks and reeds. These are replenished weekly. The dried out grasses are replaced as needed as they are used as nesting materials. Our top section has ferns, grasses, sands, gravels and logs. The logs have termites for excited finches to extract. Our Kakariki's (2 pied/ split- Charlotte and Liza) 6 yellow- Daphne, Emma, Spicy, Flitter, Rebel, Sunny love being invloved in whatever is going on. Trying to get into the new aviary will keep them busy for weeks. The next section will be floor to roof and include water features. As funds come in, upgrades and maintenance is performed. Mouse proofing is being carried out on the day habitat area so that the finches can come out during the day too. The Kakarikis, doves, King parrot lads, lorikeets and Eastern Rosella's ( mutations) share this beautiful area.
