Stuck In Samsara - out now everywhere. “Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold… finds no home in this trivial world of ours” Herman Hesse I must have had the loop of this song on repeat for 3 days straight. I remember forcing myself to write lyrics over and over again obsessively. Why couldn’t I get it right? Everything felt too righteous, too serious, too dense. In the end I just had fun with it and started improvising bars and lyrics and then stopped to write down anything that felt like it might lead somewhere. Then I cut them all up and sorted them into sections until it was coherent and felt exciting. I’ve got to credit Tom’s production on this one for taking it to the next level. The way he made the bridge work was absolutely brilliant and not like anything I could have conceived of myself. It was a moment where I just had to trust him as I could not see the vision at all and I’m glad I did. The whole band put in a stellar performance and Megumi’s saxophone parts really bring it to life.
