After being forced to withdraw from Chungju Tangeum Lake, I visited the nearby Hwagok Reservoir out of regret. Arriving in the evening, I found that all the good spots were taken, leaving only one platform remaining at the far end. With no other choice, I stepped in to find muddy water flowing in fiercely. I thought it would be difficult, but I figured if I gave it my all, I would catch something; however, that was not the case at all. On the adjacent platform, two people were catching crucian carp despite taking turns going in and out of the restroom due to a bad lunch. In conclusion, I suffered a crushing defeat; my companion, Areul, managed to catch only one 37cm crucian carp the following dawn. When I stopped by the adjacent platform, I saw that they had already caught a total of four fish—including three mid-sized ones—all by themselves. With the water level rising by about 30 to 40 cm that day, the fishing conditions on the other platforms were excellent. I plan to return soon for a revenge match.
