This is my first time requesting a reaction video to a tribute concert. However, it’s a different kind of tribute concert than what you may be used to. Peter Maxwell Davies was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, British composers of the second half of the 20th century. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2016, which makes this tribute concert from a year and a half earlier that much more special. He wrote a wide array of music from popular to classical over his lifetime. This concert is the only example I know of where the composer (who is also a renowned conductor perfectly capable of conducting this concert) gets to sit on the stage and just watch and listen while the orchestra plays his music. It’s also the only example of an orchestral concert I know of where both the conductor and the concert master are served Scotch whiskey in the middle of the performance. I won’t describe the music as davies does so himself at the beginning of the video. I found the whole experience to be very touching, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
