L'histoire de DAX... A toute Berzingue !

I'll take you on a journey through the history of Dax, at full speed, in 5 minutes flat! In ancient times, Dax was Aquae Tarbellicae, the spa town of the Tarbelles tribe, who must have already appreciated the region's numerous thermal springs. The Romans settled there and fortified the town by building magnificent ramparts in the 4th century, particularly to resist the Visigoths. In the Middle Ages, Dax became a major trading town. Goods circulated on the Adour River. Dax was also located on the pilgrimage route to Compostela. Dax hosted up to two annual fairs! The English conquered the town in the 22nd century and remained there until the Hundred Years' War. From the annexation of Aquitaine to the French crown until the Revolution, Dax remained loyal to the French crown. Its coat of arms bears witness to this: "Regia Semper." After the Revolution, thermal baths made the town's appeal soar! Today, its 15 thermal baths make it the leading spa town in France. A beautiful Art Deco thermal hotel occupies the former fortified castle of the Viscounts of Dax. Today, the lord of Dax isn't the Viscount anymore, it's the spa guest :-) And all that in 5 minutes flat?
