On the surface it seems that God’s intention is for man to share His likeness and image (Gen 1:26), but then a prohibition is put in place - “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat” (Gen 2:16,17) - and it is exactly through the breaking of this prohibition that God’s intention is fulfilled, namely, “man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil …” (Gen 3:22) What is happening here?
