And standing in front of her, holding the trishul, is her own husband. Mahadev. Why did Shiva behead his own son? Most of us have heard some version of this story — from a TV serial, from a film, from a grandmother. This video isn't that version. Here we go strictly to the Shiv Puran, where Brahma himself narrates the story to Narad Muni, and we follow it exactly as it is told — no masala, no invention. But before the story, we deal with something people rarely explain: why the Ganesha origin story is different in every Purana — and why none of those versions are wrong. Hinduism openly accepts a multiverse. Time moves in kalpas. One kalpa is a single day in Brahma's life — 4.32 billion years. When his day ends, pralaya comes, everything is destroyed, and a new creation begins the next morning. We are in the first day of Brahma's 51st year. Which means roughly 18,000 realities have already come and gone before this one. Ganesha arriving on this earth is a canon event. But how he arrives changes with every kalpa. This retelling is from the Shvet Kalpa. It begins with a conversation. Parvati's friends tell her something that plants itself in her mind — that Nandi, Bhringi and all the ganas may technically serve her, but they only truly obey Shiva. Then Shiva walks past Nandi into her chamber while she is bathing, and the humiliation settles the matter. She decides she needs a gana of her own. Someone who listens to her and no one else. So she creates a boy from the dirt of her own body. Divine. Beautiful. Powerful. Intelligent. She dresses him, embraces him, gives him a staff, and gives him one duty: nobody enters without my permission. Not even Shiva himself. And then she goes to bathe. What follows is one of the most extraordinary sequences in Hindu scripture. A ten-year-old boy stops the ganas. Then defeats them. Then drags Brahma by his beard. Then, empowered by Shakti herself, holds off Indra, the devas, the bhoot-pishach and his own brother Kartikeya — swallowing every divine astra fired at him and throwing it back like lightning. Apsaras and rishis gather in the sky to watch. Narad tells Shiva to stop letting the child play and finish it. And Shiva cannot win. Not fairly. So he doesn't. He asks Vishnu to distract Ganesha — and while the boy is locked in combat with the Sudarshan Chakra, Shiva strikes him from behind. What comes after is the part that gets edited out of most retellings: Parvati's response. Not grief — pralaya. She manifests hundreds of terrifying shaktis and gives them one instruction: eat everyone. Devas, rishis, ganas, Vishnu, Brahma — and Shiva. Nobody was safe. The gods who had just killed a child are now on their knees, begging. She sets two conditions. Bring my son back. And make him Ganapati — chief of all the ganas. Then the search begins: find a creature sleeping with its face turned away from its mother. The ganas search and search, and find only one — a baby elephant with a single tusk. Why is Ganesha worshipped before every auspicious task? Why sindoor? Why the title Vighnaharta? All of it is answered in the story itself — and all of it comes from what happened on Kailash that day.
