Are you interested in how cello lessons are taught at an Austrian music school? In this video, I show you how I teach my cello students and what this kind of lesson can look like in practice. The content is mainly based on my previous “Cello Basics 1–3” series as well as my video on open string exercises. The following topics are covered: ・Tips on how to produce sound without using force (proper release / relaxation) ・Natural bowing using the weight of the bow ・How to develop the feeling that the “bow grips the string” ・The correct coordination of right arm, elbow, and wrist ・Understanding the correct angle between bow and string ・Left-hand position awareness and intonation ・Basics of rhythm and legato (slurring) To achieve a beautiful tone, I explain these concepts in a clear and accessible way, especially for children. Fundamentals are the foundation of all playing.
