The Son gives Himself to us for nourishment in the table of the Word and the table of the Body and Blood, so that we may become “of one flesh and of one blood” with Him and share in His Divinity. The Church, accepting this gift of Christ in the Holy Spirit, responds to Him by offering herself so that He may live and act in her as in His Body. Thus, Christ, the Head of the Church, together with the Church, which is His Body, brings praise and thanksgiving to the Father in the Holy Spirit for the accomplished salvation. According to Patriarch Josyf Slipy, “liturgical PRAYER becomes a precursor of the formulations of the fundamental truths of faith in the Symbols-confessions of faith.” Therefore, common prayer is at the same time a symbol of the common faith of the Church.
