It was just after 5:30 AM in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. Security cameras captured a tense moment. A "brown object" came rushing towards the back of the parking lot at high speed. It was a wild boar. It attacked a man walking on the premises. No matter how much he ran, the boar pursued him. The man tried to scare it away with a basket, but he tripped. The boar's momentum didn't subside. Another man, noticing the situation, fought back with a cart, but the boar seemed to be biting the cart as well. After a "battle" that lasted about two minutes, the boar ran away. The man who fought back with the cart said: "I heard a loud 'Whoa!' and when I turned around, an employee was being attacked by the boar." Q: What was the situation? "It felt like it was pinning me down. No matter how much I ran, it kept chasing me. The wild boar was coming towards me, so I used a cart to hit my head against it. When it attacked, I stood up and fought back." The man who was the first to be attacked on the company premises spoke to us after receiving treatment. Q: What happened and what were you doing? "I was arriving at the company and about to go inside when I caught a glimpse of something coming towards me. I thought it was a dog, but it was a wild boar. It was incredibly fast." Q: Where did it hit you? "My leg, I think." Q: Your pants are torn, aren't they? "I think it bit me here, or maybe it was its horns." There was a tear on the right knee of the man's pants, presumably from the attack. "It was strong. And persistent." Q: Have you ever imagined a wild boar appearing in your workplace? "No way. I never imagined it would appear here, in the middle of town like this." Four people sustained minor injuries from being bitten by a wild boar. The wild boar that attacked two men at the company... "It was at an intersection about 1 kilometer north of the scene. According to someone who saw the security camera footage, at around 7 a.m., the fleeing boar collided with a bicycle. About 10 people nearby then apprehended the boar," (Announcer). According to the fire department, four people sustained minor injuries from being bitten by the boar. The route the boar took is still unknown, but looking at the map, there are no forests nearby, and it appears to have been in an urban area with main roads. According to Toyota City, the boar was an adult about 1 meter long, and was captured shortly after 7 a.m. and then disposed of. A nearby resident said... "It's the first time I've actually seen one. It's scary, and it's a meeting place for elementary school children on their way to school (60s)." "I see weasels occasionally. I've also been contacted by schools and kindergartens about wild boars (40s)."
