奄美シマ唄『嘉徳なべ加那』節。 とても人気がある曲で、沢山の唄者が歌っています。 美しい旋律で、情緒豊かなシマ唄です。 奄美大島 嘉徳海岸は、人工物が一切ない、貴重な手付かずの自然海岸です。 太古の昔から、そのままの自然な姿で、嘉徳集落を見守って来ました。 絶滅危惧種であるオサガメが、日本で唯一産卵した浜です。 嘉徳川にもコンクリート堤防がありません。 日々、河道を変化させ、美しい姿を見せてくれます。 その嘉徳海岸が、今コンクリート護岸工事の危機に面しています。 住民の命と財産を守るという理由での工事ですが、 海岸工学専門家の調査により、嘉徳浜の砂浜は回復しており、 護岸工事の必要性はない。逆に工事をすると浜の浸食が進む恐れがあると 言われています。 人間の都合に、自然を合わせるのではなくて、 自然の方に、人間の暮らしを合わせる。 自然を、そのまま守りながら、暮らすにはどうしたらいいか？ その意識が大事だと思います。 コンクリートで固めてしまう選択肢だけではなく、 もっと自然と共存していける方法もある筈です。 私がいつも思っている事なのですが、 自然には、口がない。喋りたくても喋れない。 でも私達人間には口があり、思いを伝える事が出来ます。 喋れるかわりに、自然の気持ちを 私達が代弁して 伝えていくのも人間の役目だと私は思います。 歌い継がれてきたシマ唄も、この景色の中で生まれた。 奄美の伝統芸能や文化や、人々の暮らしは、 自然がそのまま残って初めて、生き残る事が出来ると思います。 奄美の原風景が壊されてしまえば、 シマ唄も、その存在価値を失ってしまうと感じています。 どうか、嘉徳浜が 嘉徳川が 嘉徳集落が 今までと同じように、美しい姿で、未来に続いていきますように。 　　　 　 皆吉 恵理子（Eriko Minayoshi） The Amami Island Song "Katoku Nabekana" is a very popular song sung by many singers. It has a beautiful melody and rich emotional character. Katoku Coast on Amami Oshima is a precious, untouched natural coastline, completely free of artificial structures. It has watched over the Katoku settlement in its natural state since ancient times. It is the only beach in Japan where the endangered leatherback turtle lays its eggs. The Katoku River also has no concrete embankments. The river changes its course daily, revealing a beautiful landscape. But Katoku Coast is now facing the threat of concrete embankment construction. The construction is being carried out to protect the lives and property of residents, but an investigation by coastal engineering experts has shown that the sandy beach at Katoku Beach has recovered, and there is no need for embankment construction. Conversely, it's said that construction could accelerate beach erosion. Rather than adjusting nature to suit human convenience, we need to adjust human lifestyles to nature. How can we live while protecting nature as it is? I think this awareness is important. There must be ways to coexist with nature, not just the option of encasing it in concrete. This is something I've always thought: Nature has no mouth. Even if it wanted to, it couldn't. But we humans have mouths and can communicate our thoughts. Instead of being able to speak, I believe it is also humans' role to speak on nature's behalf and convey its feelings. The island songs that have been sung through the generations were also born in this landscape. I believe that Amami's traditional performing arts, culture, and people's lives can only survive if nature remains intact. If Amami's original landscape is destroyed, I feel that island songs will lose their value. I hope that Katoku Beach, Katoku River, and Katoku Village will continue to exist in the same beautiful form into the future as they have until now.
