To answer this, Dr. Liber Fernández did something few had dared to do: instead of testing AI with perfectly structured exam cases, he tested it on 100 real patient medical records, taken directly from hospitals. And he didn't evaluate just one AI, but the three most widely used in the world: ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. In this interview, we discuss the results of his study and talk about the boundary where a machine can offer opinions on your health, how far we are from trusting it with a diagnosis, and what you should keep in mind the next time you ask an AI about your symptoms. Our guest: Liber Fernández is an intensive care physician and is completing his postgraduate studies in Infectious Diseases at the University of the Republic (Uruguay). His study, conducted with Dr. Julio Medina, was presented at a national congress of internal medicine and infectious diseases and submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed medical journal.
