This time on the show: Dieter Borchmeyer Dieter Borchmeyer, born in Essen, is a Germanist and literary scholar. His field of study focuses primarily on German literature from the 18th to the 20th century. He talks about the German writer Thomas Mann. One of Thomas Mann's major works is "Buddenbrooks." It is considered the first social novel in the German language. Almost three decades later, he received the Nobel Prize for his debut novel. Borchmeyer presents Mann's literary and essayistic works in a unique monograph.
