Energy-intensive sectors, such as steel, cement, chemicals, and pulp and paper, face increasing pressure to reduce emissions. We will discuss technological solutions and the cost of clean energy. The first panel, "The Challenge of Energy-Intensive Industries," will analyze the impacts of the energy transition on sectors such as steel, cement, chemicals, and pulp and paper, discussing costs, regulatory requirements, and pressures from the international market. Participants include Alessandra Fajardo, Executive Technical Director of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS); Janaina Donas, Executive President of the Brazilian Aluminum Association (Abal); and Rodrigo Lauria, Director of Climate Change and Decarbonization at Vale. The moderator is Rafael Vazquez, journalist from Valor Econômico. In the second panel, “Technology, Clean Energy, and New Paths for Industry,” the conversation focuses on alternatives for decarbonizing industry without compromising productivity and jobs, including technological innovation, clean energy contracts, energy efficiency, and policies to support the industrial transition. Participants include Carlos José Bastos Grillo, Vice President of Technology at WEG; Marisete Pereira, President of the Brazilian Association of Electric Power Generating Companies (Abrage); and Ricardo Cardoso, Executive Director of Industrial, Engineering, and Projects at Klabin.
