As a result, English held me back significantly and I completely failed the National Center Test for University Admissions. I was disappointed not to get into my first-choice university. I went on to Fukuoka University of Teacher Education. Although I was not good at English, I didn't dislike it, so I joined an English club and interacted with international students. However, even at that time, he was frustrated by his inability to speak English as well as he wanted, and his admiration for people who could became even stronger. While he was a student, he went on a one-month exchange program in Australia. It was his dream abroad! Studying abroad would help him speak English! He set off thinking that, however, he didn't improve his English skills at all; he didn't even become able to speak it. In the end, all he gained was weight, not English ability. During his high school teaching internship to obtain his teaching license, he realized that "teaching people something is fun!" After graduating, he worked as an English teacher at a major cram school in Kyushu. He was able to teach grammar to children, but he still couldn't speak the language, which caused him to feel inferior. In the spring of his 25th year, he rekindled his dream of "working in a job where he spoke English" and, determined not to give up, decided to move to Australia. He made all the arrangements himself, without relying on an agent. Six months after making the decision, he left. Determined to find a local job within four months, he left Japan in the fall of his 25th year, clutching only four months' worth of living expenses.
