And by cheap, I mean any guitar I bought for under $300. One of my favorite cheap acoustic guitars is a vintage Stella H-929 from 1958. Why do I often reach for this super-cheap guitar when I have other better-built, much more expensive guitars in my collection? The humble Stella H929 was a cheap student guitar made in the US by Harmony of Chicago. The solid birch body has a unique tone that keeps finding its way into my productions. Listen to how I use it then decide for yourself — is a Stella worth the $300 or so they cost today and should you find one before they become too hip and expensive?
