9/8/25 Bivacco Gervasutti: TUTTO IL PERCORSO! Monte Bianco passo dopo passo 🔥
GPX: https://it.wikiloc.com/percorsi-corsa... Welcome to one of the most incredible places in the Alps! Today I'm taking you with me to the Gervasutti Bivouac, a masterpiece of design and technology suspended on a rocky spur beneath the Petit Jorasses, in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif. It's no simple stroll: the trail starting from Val Ferret is a wild mix of equipped sections, dying glaciers, and breathtaking views. In this video, you'll see the complete ascent step by step: from crossing streams to using technical ropes (a little "rotten" but essential!), to crossing the snowfield with crampons. Want to see what the world's most beautiful "bedroom" with a view of the glacier looks like? Want to know if this route is right for you? Lace up your boots and discover why the Gervasutti is every experienced hiker's dream! What you'll find in this video: The complete ascent from Val Ferret (Lava). Passing the sections equipped with the famous "canaponi". Crossing the snowfield beneath the Petit Jorasses. Complete tour of the interior of the futuristic bivouac. The "sound" of the glacier moving beneath your feet. 00:00 Departure from Val Ferret: loaded like mules! 1:45 The bivouac appears in the distance: a vertical challenge 3:20 Epic sunrise on the Grandes Jorasses 🌅 5:55 Attacking the first hemp ropes: technique and adrenaline 7:50 "Infamous" terrain: earth and rock between the ropes 9:50 The glacier speaks: dull sounds from the high altitude 12:30 Crampons and ice axe: crossing the snowfield ❄️ 3:30 Last climb: the Infamata corner before the goal 7:15 ARRIVAL! The Gervasutti Bivouac in all its splendor 8:30 PM Inside tour: the bedroom overlooking the abyss 🚀 9:50 PM Final reflections and technical descent Incipit: I wanted to make a short video. Given the majesty and beauty of the place, I found myself unknowingly filming a lot, and in the end, I ended up with a video that shows the entire trail, from the trails to the more technical sections to the fixed ropes. You can go up to Lavachey by car; there's a paid parking lot, and the limit is 160 cars, so it's best to leave early or you'll have to park down below. There's an easy parking lot, or there are the classic totem poles. The Gervasutti Bivouac is one of the most iconic and unique bivouacs in the Alps, located at 2,835 meters above sea level on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, in Val Ferret. Its futuristic shape, practically the fuselage of an airliner, and the breathtaking view of the glacier and surrounding peaks make it an unforgettable destination for any mountain enthusiast. In this video, I'll take you step by step from the start to the bivouac, showing every aspect: from the easiest point to the sections equipped with fixed ropes. It's a comprehensive account, designed for those who want to live the experience or prepare for the climb independently, knowing exactly what to expect. The bivouac is named after Giusto Gervasutti, a great Italian mountaineer of the 1930s and 1940s, known as "il Fortissimo." The current structure was installed in 2011, replacing the old wooden bivouac, and offers 12 beds, providing shelter for those tackling high-altitude routes in this spectacular area. The first hut was built in 1949, made of wood, at the initiative of the Turin SUCAI Subsection, and named after Gervasutti in memory of his famous ascent of the east face of the Grandes Jorasses. Damaged over time, it was rebuilt in 1961, also made of wood and sheet metal (pieces of this old construction can be found scattered along the trail just below the trail). In 2011, it was replaced with the modern modular structure designed by LEAPFactory, using composite sandwich panels. It consists of four rooms (entrance, dining area, and two dormitories) and can accommodate up to 12 people (at least that's what I remember XD), covering approximately 30 m² and weighing 1,980 kg. The structure is completely self-sufficient: energy is produced by photovoltaic panels, with batteries, internal lighting, electric cooking hobs, and a remote monitoring system with satellite connection: real-time weather, system status, SOS point, and a virtual diary alongside the paper log (unfortunately, when we ascended, the power was only working for lighting; I imagine maintenance will be done soon). The route, with a mountaineering character (F/PD depending on conditions), starts from the village of Lavachey (about 1,600 m), crosses moraines and snowfields, climbs the glacier, and reaches the rocky niche where the bivouac is located. If you love mountaineering, challenging hiking, and great mountain stories, this video will take you to one of the most fascinating places. Mont Blanc. 📍 Altitude: 2,835 m ⏱ Average ascent time: 3-4 hours 📸 Recommended season: Summer, with stable weather conditions
