I found a genuine piece of solid Italian Empire silver from the Pontifical Order of Rome, more than 200 years old. I acquired it in the most expensive lot at Encants de Barcelona. The lot went for €9,000. The moment I saw the piece, I suspected it was something worth studying. I wasn't familiar with the marks; I'd never held a piece from that time and place before.
