DIY CNC Plasma Cutter Part 1. JDS's Garage CNC Plasma cutter on Steroids

DIY Plasma cutter. #diycnc #plasmacutter #cncplasmacutter Ever wanted to build your own CNC Plasma Cutter but don't know where to start. This is your lucky day. I searched hard for a DIY Plasma cutter build on You tube, the web and after many hours of research I settled on the JD's Garage Plasma Cutter. Now, to be clear, this design from JD's Garage looks A LOT like the the Langmuir Crossfire Pro. I can see where JD changed it up so its not a copyright issue, like using 3D printed parts instead of aluminium and belt drive instead of ball screw drives, he down sized it so It looks like a toy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining', It was great building my own Plasma cutter and I think you learn so much about how it all works so future problem solving will be easier. I wouldn't be able to afford the Langmuir system in a lump sum, so this enabled me to spread out the costs over a few months of the build. I didn't want a toy so I thought what if I upsize it? So I can fit a full width sheet on the table. So instead of many small 900 x 900 sheets. I could use a 1200mm wide sheet x 1200m long sheet, or larger if I incorporate some support rollers into the table. That would be awesome. So That's what I built. Hope you enjoy the video, It starts off a little slow, just fast forward to the good parts you want to see. This is part 1 of the build where I Collect all the parts needed, explain the process and build the Base frame. JD's Garage didn't have a large version of their DIY Plasma table when I started building mine. So all of the working out and upsizing is all my doing. You know what its like, you get 3/4 the way through the build and then JD's garage brings out an XL version of the table. with auto squaring and extremity limits for homing. Now I have to either purchase the XL kit as well for the updated electronics and limits or work it out myself. There should be a upgrade kit from one size to the next, especially due to the 1 month difference in purchase time between the standard and XL versions. Something for JD to think about for his customers.
