In 1960, South Korea was poorer than Indonesia. They had no oil, no nickel, no gold. Now, Korea's GDP per capita is seven times greater than Indonesia's. Meanwhile, we—with the world's largest nickel reserves, Papua's gold, and marine pharmaceutical potential worth $9 trillion per year—are still at $5,000 per capita. This isn't fate.
