We get the option of free items as we see a selling tactic where "slow goods" are paired with a more desirable item, to get consumer to buy. For example, today, we saw rice for sale with coconut powder and chicken season free. Baby formula with wipes free, always similar items attached for free, as a perk to get consumer to buy.
