How to saddle a horse for the first time, and what to expect!!!!!!

This clip was recorded after I had worked with her a little bit and gained control of her feet so that she felt comfortable being with me without needing to think about her surroundings. I then desensitized her to a bunch of things including whips, plastic bags, the tarp and saddle pad. Its important to do this because otherwise your horse will probably bolt off when you try to saddle her, or you'll need to get help from a couple of people to hold her in place as you saddle her....... not helpful at all for the horse. So you'll notice that she stands relatively calm as I throw the saddle on, tighten up both girths, and you think that she may have been saddled before, but as soon as I asked her to take a step on the lunge, she exploded. Its important to see what happens to me when she does that.......nothing. I remain calm. Why? Because I know that it feels weird on her back and all she knows how to do is run when something feels weird. So I need to let her explore the option of bucking and panicking, whilst remaining calm, until she decides to stop and look at me. Then I just simply go in and stroke her. The second time I asked her to go she threw in a couple of little bucks, stopped, and looked at me. Then she was pretty much ok. She realized that there was no point in bucking; its too much effort without any reward, but standing still and relaxing took away the pressure and felt better for her. So she made the choice. This is the critical part. It wouldn't be as effective if when she tried to buck and tried to pull her and stop her... she'd never figure it out. So allow the horse to try various things (but stay out of her way to stay safe) and always reward the behavior you want by releasing the pressure. Then immediately get to work with but throw in a ton of changes of directions. The more changes you ask for, the more she'll think about you and less about the weird feeling on her back. Also, because of the basic groundwork we did before hand, she very quickly learns to ignore the saddle and settle into normal relaxed movement. I only had one size of girth so it was way too big on her. SO forgive me for looking sloppy while mounting but I had to get through the process without getting hurt, and with her learning loads.
