Cornelia reflects on discovering Sifu shortly after the Chinese Wushu Research Institute first opened its doors on Beach Street in Boston's Chinatown, during a time when training was raw, demanding, and uncompromising. She recalls the discipline of the early CWRI years, the atmosphere of the school, and the extraordinary level at which Sifu taught, performed, and carried herself. As the conversation unfolds, the episode explores what it meant for a woman to lead, teach, and perform at such a high level during a time when very few women stood in that position. Cornelia shares memories of witnessing a performance so moving it brought her to tears, while Chris reflects on growing up inside the pressure, expectations, humor, and humanity surrounding the school and her mother's legacy.
