Painting Legio Custodes – Leather, Fabrics and Gemstones

This is a step-by-step painting tutorial covering the cloak, leather, and gemstones on the new Adeptus Custodes Shield-Captain. Basecoat leather and leg fabrics with a 3:1 mix of Khorne Red and Abaddon Black. 2. Basecoat all main fabric areas, helm plume, and unit markings with a 1:1 mix of Mephiston Red and Water. 3. Shade the leather recesses with a 1:1:1 mix of Mephiston Red, Abaddon Black, and Water. 4. Highlight the leather with pure Khorne Red. 5. Refine leather highlights with a 1:1 mix of Khorne Red and Squig Orange. 6. Add final leather highlights with pure Squig Orange. 7. Apply fabric glaze highlights with a 1:3 mix of Mephiston Red and Water. 8. Add fabric shadow glazes with a 1:2 mix of Khorne Red and Water. 9. Deepen fabric shadows with a 2:1:3 mix of Khorne Red, Abaddon Black, and Water. 10. Re-establish midtones with a 1:1 mix of Mephiston Red and Water. 11. Add bright fabric highlights with a 1:1 mix of Evil Sunz Scarlet and Water. 12. Add final fabric highlights with a 1:1 mix of Wild Rider Red and Water. 13. Basecoat all gemstones with a 1:1 mix of Kantor Blue and Water. 14. Add gemstone midtone highlights with a 1:1:1 mix of Thousand Sons Blue, Sybarite Green, and Water. 15. Add a small reflection dot using the same 1:1:1 mix of Thousand Sons Blue, Sybarite Green, and Water. 16. Add a brighter gemstone highlight by mixing the previous color with P3 Morrow White (approx. 3:1:1:1 mix of Thousand Sons Blue, Sybarite Green, Water, and P3 Morrow White). 17.
