DONKEY KONG 3, NINTENDO GAME AND WATCH, MICRO VS SYSTEM, 1983
Hello Retro fans, todays classic is a rare Nintendo Game and Watch, Donkey Kong 3. This was one of the unusual Micro VS System games. There were only three Micro system games released, Boxing, Donkey Kong Hockey, and Donkey Kong 3. They were unique in Nintendo's electronic game catalogue because they allowed two players to play against each other. They also had two individual joypads which wound out of the unit itself, and which you used to control each player. The mini Joypads could be stored away within the system itself for transport and were highly innovative for the time. They are unique. Each pad had the classic Nintendo crosshair controller mechanism which Playstation would copy. Donkey Kong featured in a lot of Nintendo Game and Watch games, but this is unique as his opponent is Donkey Kong Jr, and not Mario. Must have been awkward in the Donkey Kong household 😂😂 Out of the three Micro system games released Donkey Kong 3 is by far the weakest. It stands up in two player mode, but in one player is not much fun, and wouldn't have lasting appeal compared to the other game and watches such as fire, Donkey Kong double screen, and Octopus for example. Is collectable as is one of the rare Micro Systems, but I would steer clear if you are just starting your collection from a gameplay standpoint as there are much more playable Game and Watches. I would recommend Fire, Manhole, Parachute, Turtle Bridge, or Snoopy Tennis to start your collection
