Installing Electric Fence | Raccoons VS Sweet Corn ! How we installed electric fencing to keep the raccoons out of the sweet corn ! If you are growing sweet corn then you know what a pest they can be ! This fence was easy to install and still allows us access to the garden ! Fence Details: This is a 7 strand electric fence, wired with 17 gauge aluminum wire. The corner posts are 24" in the ground, set in concrete. We used insulated post wraps to keep the electric wires to the outside of the fence so raccoons cannot climb the posts. There are 4 ground wires that are 36" long, driven 5' apart. The charger is a 10 mile solar electric fence charger that runs on a 6v battery. The white support posts are 48" long and made of fiberglass, with 7 twist lock insulators on each.
