Wild Mountain Thyme

"Wild Mountain Thyme" is an Irish/Scottish folk song with lyrics adapted by Francis McPeake from "The Brass of Balquhither" by Robert Tannahill. We used a second voice harmony adapted from The Corries. Verse 1 Oh the summertime is come And the trees and sweetly blooming, The wild mountain thyme Grows around the purple heather. Will ye go, lassie, go? Chorus And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather. Will ye go, lassie, go? Verse 2 I will build my love a tower By yon pure, crystal fountain And it's there I will bring All the flowers of the mountain Will ye go, lassie, go? Chorus Verse 3 I will range through the wild, And the deep lands so dreary And return with the spoils To the bower of my deary. Will ye go, lassie, go? Chorus Verse 4 If my true love will not come Then I'll surely find another To pull wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather. Will ye go, lassie, go? Chorus Instrumental Verse 5 Oh the autumn-time is come And the leaves will soon be falling, And the blossoms of the summer Will soon wither on the mountain. Will ye go, lassie, go?
