176 - Comparison of Premiere, Davinci, and PowerDirector
Comparisons of several basic editing procedures done on Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, and PowerDirector 365. Each comparison uses the same video files and performs the same basic tasks so that you can see a direct comparison in the software programs. The following editing tasks were performed for comparison purposes: 1. Display the basic or main editing window. Briefly name or point out the sub-sections or windows, i.e., a media library, a timeline, and a preview window, etc. 2. Demonstrate how to Drag down two video files from the imported media clips to the timeline. Show how the user can “connect” them together on the timeline. 3. Show how to split or trim out any unwanted sections of video. The first clip has about 5 seconds of intentionally distorted video and missing audio. After cutting out the unwanted section, indicate if the other clip will automatically move to replace the cut section or if you have to move it manually. 4. Demonstrate how to add a fade transition at the end of the second clip (aka fade to black). And, indicate if the added transition automatically fades both the audio and video at the same time. 5. Demonstrate how to add an opening title at the beginning of the first clip that appears as an overlay to the video underneath (without a background color, just text floating on the video). In order to make it fast, use whatever defaults would first come up relating to font, font size, font color, or any other attributes. And you can make the text in the title say whatever you want. 6. Demonstrate how to change to a different font, size, and color. 7. Demonstrate how to Export or Render the project to a new video that should end up being about 19 seconds long using the same encoding standards as the original. 8. Play the new video to show everybody that it works.
