Why Do Good People Suffer at Times? Suffering is not always a sign that God has abandoned you. Sometimes, your pain is part of His divine purpose. God may allow suffering: • To test and strengthen your faith. (James 1:2–4; 1 Peter 1:6–7) • To prepare you to comfort others with the same comfort you have received. (2 Corinthians 1:3–4) • To remind you that vengeance belongs to Him and that He will bring justice in His perfect time. (Romans 12:19; Deuteronomy 32:35) • To lovingly correct and discipline those He loves, producing righteousness and spiritual maturity. (Hebrews 12:5–11; Proverbs 3:11–12) No trial is wasted in God’s hands. Every challenge has a purpose, every tear has meaning, and every season of suffering is an opportunity for God to reveal His power, grace, and faithfulness.
