DESERTIFICATION
Desertification is a process of desert expansion or converting of productive land into desert. Thus desertification should be recognised as land degradation process due to man's activities. United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) 1994 defined desertification as “land degradation in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas resulting from various factors, including climatic variations and human activities”.
