I Completely Changed My SHO Workflow in PixInsight
Most SHO images in PixInsight suffer from strong green casts and pink stars. In this video I show how I changed my SHO workflow by manually assigning colors to SII, H-alpha and OIII instead of using the standard Hubble palette mapping. This PixInsight SHO processing tutorial focuses on custom narrowband color mapping with PixelMath. By choosing colors for each channel instead of the classic S = Red, H = Green, O = Blue formula, I gain better control over green dominance, star color balance and overall contrast. A large part of the work happens in the linear stage, where noise reduction, background modeling and channel balancing are done before stretching. Cleaning SII, H-alpha and OIII data early reduces the need for aggressive corrections later. This is an intermediate PixInsight tutorial for astrophotographers working with SHO narrowband data who want cleaner colors and better color separation.
