Controversial facial recognition firm, Clearview AI says it now has 30 billion images, scraped from platforms such as Facebook, taken without users' permissions. It claims its technology is being used by hundreds of police forces in the US. The company has repeatedly been fined millions of dollars in Europe and Australia for breaches of privacy. Critics argue that the use of Clearview by law enforcement puts everyone into a "perpetual police line-up" – and that the technology doesn’t always work.
